RNS Tournament Champions

KES Boys were victorious in the RNS “Top of the Hill” tournament in Rothesay, New Brunswick. The KES boys division 1 soccer team had an amazing trip to New Brunswick.

The KES Division 1 Boys Soccer team finished tied atop their pool after a win and a draw at the Rothesay-Netherwood School tournament this past weekend. An early morning shootout on Sunday was needed to break the deadlock. Goalkeeper Anthony Corradini did what he had to do and stopped the fourth shot while all five KES spot-kickers converted to send KES to the final. Scorers were Kyle Yearwood, David Lee, Inigo Vazquez, Alfonso Pereira, and Cody Ettinger.

The championship match was played later on Sunday against the local public high school. Our team was outsized, but our skill on the ball was apparent as we created several quality scoring chances in the first half, with Inigo Vazquez finally slotting home for a 1-0 lead. The lead held until late in the second half when a nicely converted header saw the opponents draw level. Old-fashioned golden goal overtime ensued and only moments into the first overtime period, Kyle Yearwood launched a rocket of a shot that the goalie could only look at as it found the top corner and a KES tournament victory! Our boys played very well on the weekend, and the man of the tournament went to Kyle Yearwood. He scored 4 of 5 goals and was a rock in the midfield. Our team and coaches are looking forward to a frenetic few weeks ahead!
